My life so far has revolved around 3 main interests - English studies, music and graphics. I used to draw a lot when I was a kid but that somehow faded into the background when I went to high school and picked up a guitar. Computers weren't much fun back then and I spent all my free time playing the guitar while I pursued English studies for 4 years after high school. I was well on my way to becoming an English teacher when in 1992 I got the chance to be an assistant teacher for the French department at Kenyon College, Ohio I spent 2 wonderful years there but I also realized that teaching English wasn't what I really wanted to do with my life. This is also where I started to get familiar to computers and internet. I came back to France and spent the next 2 years playing the guitar. But by that time I had gotten a computer at home and started fiddling around with graphics programs, doing promo booklets and posters for the band..
After 2 years I had given up hopes of becoming an international rock star, but I knew computer graphics was what I wanted to do. I spent another year learning 3d Studio Max by myself before a friend asked me to join his newly formed company Synapse Production in the summer of 1997. We really did not master much in the first months and we would do anything graphic that would earn the company money - web sites, city maps, architecture renderings, corporate print jobs, etc ... It sometimes went in all directions, but that gave me a solid background in a wide variety of graphic fields. After 3 years Synapse had slowly specialized in web design, while I wanted to be involved in larger scale 3d work. I left the company in spring 2000, moved to Paris and joined Cryo interactive at the start of Atlantis III's production.
This turned out to be exactly what I was looking for, as I got involved in all aspects of 3d production - modeling, animation and compositing. Working at Cryo was a lot of fun since every artist is responsible for his cut scenes from animation to rendering. I've learned a lot working on fun stuff with really knowledgeable people. I left Cryo in July 2002 and I am now working for Blur Studio in California.
